Like that's a terrible idea for multiple reasons.
And what you Tim tend to do is say, Right, I've got to train towards running twenty-six miles.
I'm gonna break it down.
Um, I'm gonna start off slow, I'm gonna build up slowly, I'm gonna like, you know, uh uh check to see if I get any injuries or any problems, I'm gonna dial back down again.
And that also what you do, you wouldn't just be running all the time.
Like you might spend some time doing yoga, you might spend some time doing swimming, you know, you do cross training moments in the gym.
So it'd be the same with writing.
Like I don't think we should be asking novice writers to be writing kind of, you know, uh four page stories straight away.
And I don't think the only way to get better at writing is to just get kids to write more.
There's a bit of an idea that goes around that oh we've got to build their stamina, we've got to build their stamina, we've got to get them to write more.
I think that can be really counterproductive.
It's like saying all the way you've got to build the stamina of a marathon runner is like just get them running more.
It's like, well no, you have to build up to that.
You know, you have to build up to that point.
And there are a lot of things that don't involve any writing at all that will make you a better writer, just as there are many things that do not involve any running at all that can make you a better runner.
So, you know, doing an hour of yoga a week can make you a better runner.
I would say doing an a one hour lesson a week where you're just doing morphology and prefixes and suffixes and word roots and etymology, you might not do any writing or very little writing, but long term that will make you a better writer in the same way that doing the yoga class can make you a better writer, a better runner.
I think that we do yeah.
Yeah.
We do a year one assessment for writing and actually I would say year one writing is actually just very different from everything that comes later.
