So I think there absolutely is a role for AI within education.

But I think within that it is also legitimate, completely legitimate to be sceptical about some uses of it.

And and that's not contradictory.

I'm not being a hypocrite here.

I think there are places where you can really think we need this and places where you think we have to be wary about this and

The analogy I use is um modern Germany, I think quite famously they have autobains with no speed limits.

So they have motorways where you can just basically, you know, drive wherever limit you want.

Um but they also equally they have medieval town centres where cars are banned.

And so I think you can see there, like w would you say is Germany pro car, is it anti car?

It's like, well, it depends on the context.

And that's what I feel about AI in education.

Um, it it depends on the context.

And I would say the sort of the medieval town centres where cars are banned, the equivalent is like I do think at primary under the age of eleven

I feel relatively wary there about the benefits of screens.

I I'm not sure there are as many as people think.

And I think there is a big value to having primary classrooms that are screen free.

Um I think as students get older I can see the case for a little bit more.

I still think you've got to be c cautious, but I can see the the the cost benefit trade off does shift a bit as students get older.

And where I also think there's huge value is are there ways that we can kind of yeah, almost have that like motorway round the edges that we can speed up and and reduce the workload for teachers um in ways that where the students still remain, you know, not having to like necessarily be looking at screens.
