And that's something at no more marking, w we we this is really important to us.

So most of those three million pieces of writing that we've assessed are handwritten.

So a student who takes part in our assessments

you know, never has to see a screen.

We will have year elevens at the m uh year sixes at the minute who have been, you know, in schools that have been with us for six or seven years, or they have a portfolio of writing I've talked about, you know, they'll have taken part in all of our assessments.

They'll have these really kind of um

uh uh you know, sort of sophisticated measurement scales, but they'll never have seen a screen.

And the latest kind of version we're using for the you know, way we're taking this sort of uh direction is um

the handwriting that AI is now really good at transcribing students' handwriting.

And that is actually the first step in all of our AI assessment to transcribe the handwriting.

And the teachers now, when they're judging, they can actually toggle between the original handwriting and a type transcription.

So for me, like the right way to be thinking about AI is not necessarily to be saying, Oh, we need to put the kids in front of a tablet and give them an AI tutor.

It can mean that

They're doing some handwriting on some old fashioned pen and pa pencil and paper.

And the AI is being used to transcribe that and analyse it and give them some feedback and support their teachers to market, but they don't have to see a screen.

And the reason why I think that's important is because I do think the

mechanism that the re reading and writing on paper is a different experience cognitively to reading and writing on screen.

So even adults we know read differently on screen.

We do not read the same well on screen as we do on paper.

Writing there's all kinds of benefits to the process of handwriting.
