So people have been predicting for you know, over over a decade now that we won't radiologists, their job's gonna be done by AI.
Um because it seems the most obvious thing, you know, radiologists interpreting a scan.
But actually actually that hasn't happened.
And and actually there's m been more demand in the last few years for radiologists than than ever before, despite the advances in AI.
Now, of course, maybe that will change and maybe the AI really will crack it.
But I you know, I've read an article looking at why this was and it's partly because of the things you're talking about, but not all of a radiologist's job is just sitting in a room interpreting scans.
Like a lot of it is explaining what those scans mean, not just to the patient, to other other clinicians.
You know, talking through details.
Now you may say this is something the AI is going to get better and better and better at, and perhaps it will.
I I I think we're going to need humans in the loop.
We might, as I say, need fewer of them.
It might be that the human gets more productive, but I I still think we're going to need human experts.
And I think I particularly feel strongly about this in again education and particularly education children under the age of eleven.
I think everything in that age group is so like personal and so human.
that it is very, very hard to eliminate the physicality of it.
It's very hard, I think, to have eight year olds sitting at a screen all day learning to read.
And I don't just mean that in terms of like the ethics of it.
Like some people go, I just don't want my kids sitting at a screen, you know, my eight year old sitting at a screen four hours of a day.
My argument is even if you like just don't like that for reasons of socialization
I'm just actually not sure from a completely utilitarian technocratic point of view that it is possible at scalp for kids to learn to read sitting at a screen.
