Yes, I absolutely know what you mean.

And I think there are several ways in which social media can mess with our heads.

One is because it puts us into this state of toxic comparison because we're looking at other people's toxic positivity and we're comparing our humdrum, booger-filled lives with their big fish that they've caught or the party they're at that you weren't invited to.

I think there's also the fact that the algorithms incentivize rage.

And by the way, I'm not anti-social media.

I'm on social media.

I just think it's like how I feel about capitalism.

I'm a capitalist, but I think there are real problems in the system that need to be pointed out.

And with social media, one of them is that the algorithm incentivizes rage.

And so that gives us a view of the world that is angry and polarized and pessimistic that I don't think is actually lined up with the truth.

I have become a better communicator, but I don't know if it's from leaving the job.

I actually, six years ago, I got what's called a 360 review.

Have you ever heard of that?

I've heard of it, but I don't know exactly what it is.

It's like an anonymous survey that you hire an executive coach to run with your bosses, peers, and direct reports.

And I added in my wife and my brother and a few friends, so 16 people.

And the feedback I got was that I was a reasonably good communicator, talking to a camera, but not great one-on-one with people.

And so I hired some coaches that taught me a lot of communication skills, very simple techniques that have completely changed my relationships.
