So I can get very independent decisions and thoughts on the actual decision before I make my own.

suggestions on how to distinguish ego versus genuine, let's say, principled dissent versus the kind of ego and performance opposition?
Yeah, absolutely.
So, I mean, we've spoken a little bit about the difference between
consent and compliance, we can also look at the difference between defiance and what I call true defiance and false defiance.
And I think just knowing the differences between these and having the language to think about it really improves our values-based defiance versus a performative defiance.
So, if we think about false defiance and what that might be, it's defiance that, you know, it's an action that looks defiant, could be oppositional, but it doesn't come from our true values.
It's not an active expression of our deeply held values.
And that's where it becomes important.
but anyone who's had children, toddlers or teenagers, sometimes they do the exact opposite of what you ask them to do.
And I remember my son went through a phase where he would be like this, that I would say, oh, are you going to do your homework?
And he would say to me, well, I was going to do it, but now that you've asked me to do it, I am not going to do it.
So if somebody is doing the exact opposite of what you're asking,
Is that really an expression of their deeply held values?
Because they're totally reliant on what you're saying.
So what they're doing is reliant on something external, which is really compliance.
It's what I call false defiance.
