people across the political spectrum knew, but they were faced with in their eyes with a trade off, which was, yeah, we can curtail
immigration.
But that will have a direct economic impact.
And, you know, this idea again, this lazy characterization, oh well they're all just cowards and traitors and whatever, it wasn't that.
They made a they made a uh they made a political calculation and I think obviously
you know, i i it it's quite clear certainly in political terms, they made the wrong calculation.
But I think there is another issue, and it's I think it's interesting that we've gone from the broader, you know, the broader discussion about sort of politics in general to the immigration issue, which again comes back to what you were talking about.
There are going to be a lot of hard decisions can be t that need to be taken.
And one of the problems we've got with the current debate is immigration is seen as the magic bullet.
So if you speak to anybody in the right, you know, how are you gonna pay for this?
