And I think in terms of our analysis of Andy Burnham and his government.

It's only when he gets that personal mandate that we will uh uh and or majority, he may not get one at all, you know, uh events could conspire against him.

But the reality is in terms of knowing what Andy Burnham is and what he would be like as a prime minister, I think that's o that's the only point we'll get a we'll get a a a a sort of a proper and genuine assessment.

Yeah, uh but now obviously we we we're moving into you know, it's this is a this is a good example of the the nature of the debate.

I mean, firstly

You're absolutely right, politicians of all persuasions.

um have failed to get to grips with the issue.

Now I I would put this in uh I I would divide this into two two stages.

There was a there was a significant period during the during the nineties.

I would say broadly during the nineties.

Turn of the new millennium.

Where there was a there was an arrogant it goes back to what I was saying about the the the view of politicians to what I broadly call working people, there was an arrogant presumption.

that there was a consensus that immigration was non alloyed good.

I mean, literally you have been one of the you know, you've both been uh sort of pioneering, if you like, in terms of your your your analysis of this problem.

And I you know, and I've held my hand up and said that I was one of those people.

Now

I I would say in the defence of people like me, it's because we I grew up in the seventies and eighties where

there was very, very significant racism and a very s still prevailing backlash against against migrant communities that was that was that was toxic and um and we were trying to push back on that.

But it is quite clear that in our desire to do that
