a generic neutral idea of what the leverage of an additional win is what does a win do to you uh you know for some teams obviously it doesn't do that much uh the the white sox could add or the rockies could add 10 wins and it wouldn't really matter at all in any playoff relevant sense at this point uh but teams that are on the cusp of either making the playoffs or winning the division
those are significant kind of break points in the probability.
And when those things are uncertain, adding value has, you know, a bigger effect on the fate of a team.
As you say, that bubble is a very dangerous place because that can lead you to chase kind of a low probability thing and hurt yourself in the future when times might be better.
And so that's not, you know, always a good thing to do.
The Orioles, as you say, are a fairly conservative organization.
They're wonky.
They're analytical.
I don't think they're not making a push.
I think they're like the Tigers last year.
No team would be upset if they had a miracle comeback, but they're not going to do anything to try to make that miracle comeback happen.
They're going to look to next year, which does make sense because they do have a lot of young talent on that team, and there's at least a reasonable hope that they can get guys like Grayson Rodriguez and Kyle Braddish on the field next year.
next year, and that might help their pitching quite a bit because that has been a major problem for the Orioles.
And with the Diamondbacks, they're a little unpredictable, but they've kind of been making hints.
Nobody's actually said they're going to sell, but you do get that sense that the team is unhappy because they've lost a lot of players due to injuries.
They have some guys that they're probably not going to resign that have trade value in a seller's market.
It's really hard for that team to resist.
I think, I mean, unless the team goes undefeated in the next week or loses all their games, it probably won't have a huge effect.
The way I look at it, the AL Central teams tend to be really conservative about things and not super aggressive.
