What a great question.
When we're talking about trauma, I would say like the strictest, most, you know, clinical definition would be the DSM criteria of trauma, which says that a person is exposed to threatened or actual death, threatened or actual serious illness, either by direct exposure or direct witnessing.
I would say that most of us in mental health kind of acknowledge that this clinical definition is pretty narrow, that there's a range of really distressing and disturbing things that can be experienced as traumatic.
So when we're thinking about a frontline worker, we're talking about

Having to walk past overflowing, you know, freezers of dead bodies to get into the hospital.
