Like all of these things are really traumatic.
When we talk about secondary trauma or vicarious trauma, um, it's basically indirect exposure to trauma by
hearing people's first hand accounts, right?
We see this all the time in medicine.
And then moral distress or moral injury is a unique thing.
And it's this discrepancy that happens when one's core moral values are um not aligned with what somebody is forced to either do or not do because of the constraints of their situation.
Right.
So this would be more along the lines of
Being forced to pick who gets life-saving care, right?
Going to med school doesn't teach us how to den how to deny people care that could save their lives.
Um, being forced to tell a family they can't be with their loved one while that person dies, right?
Then watching that person die alone.
Being forced to work outside of your scope of practice in a way that you just um don't feel adequate.
