I know smart people who think he's one of Seattle's five best starters right now.
If you were to be called up, it's a great problem to have, but
You know, too many resources, not enough innings.
There's big egos.
There's big salaries on the line.
I know if you get into arbitration and you're doing this piggyback thing and the team comes in there and sits you down and says, well, hey, you only made X number of starts to an arbiter.
The starting pitcher is going to get really upset about that if you piggybacked him out of three or four starts through not being able to juggle your own resources.
So it's been interesting to watch them try to manage it.
I think probably, but I think it's maybe a dead heat between him and Emerson Hancock, who these guys have kind of gone in opposite paths as this season has gone on.
Castillo had an awful start.
And I know that this organization and this fan base has been looking at his salary and his age and kind of expecting that drop-off that kind of indicates his career is in perpetual decline.
So when he had a really rough late March and early April, it kind of felt like that's where we were going.
And he became the obvious candidate for that.
Inversely, you have Emerson Hancock, who is the one starting pitcher that this team spent a first round draft pick on who hadn't become a top grade, you know, number two, number three quality starter.
Well, it turns out that he is that or at least has been so far this year.
He started to show some signs of decline as the season's gone on.
I think the thing with Castillo is that he's the older one and he's the more expensive one.
So when the team looks at him and when they're planning for the next two or three seasons, they don't see the upside that you have from somebody like Bryce Miller.
You don't see the upside from guys like Brian Wu.
