And I had a similar feeling in terms of getting back to fitness and swimming.

And she gave me some advice, which was, you know, you never know what's going to happen in your life and you can't really control it.

But these are the times where if you push hard and you truly believe in some special things can happen.

And my mum's all better now.

She's in full remission.

And that kind of resonated me through the competition and kind of pushed me on to be able to win that European gold back to back years.

Yeah, you know, Nathan went over there two months before I did because I obviously had the surgery and then Nate and then I joined him in after and, you know, the first month was pretty good.

I was just getting back to fitness for the Europeans and then I came back after the Europeans January time and then I was like the work just wasn't what I wanted to do and the coach wasn't

kind of putting together the sessions that maybe he'd promised or what I used to do.

So the general feeling for me was I just need to come back home and just train what I was doing the same as Paris.

So when I came back to Dublin eight weeks ago, I just got straight back on to what I was doing for five years previous before Paris, the Paris Olympics.

Okay.

And then now I'm just like basically back to full strength and ready for the summer.

Yeah.

Well, I could have stuck it out to the end of the year, but my old performance director at Somalia said to me, Daniel, listen, if you leave now, you're going to have no effect on the Olympics in LA, where if you leave it a bit later, you know, it maybe will affect the LA Olympics.

So that for me was like, I need to leave right away.

Definitely.

I think the lifestyle there was definitely a bit of distraction.

And I'd say the people, even in the training group, maybe a bit of a distraction too.

So when I came back home, it was all like full locked in again.
