But before that, we were very Catholic.

And the church that I went to, that we still have a beautiful relationship with, had its specific form, and it was tough.

Specific form of?

Of how you should dress and what that meant and how you should conduct and who you should be with.

Because that reflected what a good Christian you were or not.

You just reminded me of me as a new believer.

I was so in love with Jesus.

I wanted so much to learn that I was at church every time it was open, every time.

And I remember coming from school, and I live far from the church.

So I said, you know what?

I'm just going to go straight from school.

I was wearing jeans, and mind you, a long t-shirt over it.

And I remember the face of disappointment of my pastor telling me, why you had to wear that, daughter?

And it just crushed me.

I'm like, so you would have rather that I didn't come and receive these?

Or like, there was just so many things that went through this 16-year-old mind, you know?

So I remember being broken over that because my heart was so hungry for the Lord.

I sat on the back seat.

Nobody told me to, but I felt unclean.

I felt unclean.
