Or he would find that they would direct you to two counselors covering a state like Colorado that's enormous.
And if you're on one side of the state, good luck getting weekly help from someone on the other side.
It's not at all doing the job.
Yeah, didn't cover it in the book for a couple of reasons.
One is just timing.
It's really taken off recently.
And as you know, books have to be finalized quite a bit in advance.
And the other was, I think they are genuinely in legal limbo and might get invalidated, at least in some parts of the country, as far as taking bets on sports goes.
So I didn't want the book to, you know, have a short shelf life.
Oh, there's absolutely a ton to learn.
And I think one of the most shameful things that happened with legalization here, and I guess this is not unique to gambling when it comes to American policymaking, was just being totally oblivious to precedent overseas, as if this is some grand American experiment and we'll figure things out as we go.
Yeah.
All of the things that we're debating about deceptive promotions and excessive advertising and too many ways to bet on things that are easily corruptible, all of those have been litigated in public discourse or in courts in Europe.
And there's been this realization that things were out of hand and they had to crack down.
And now many of those same companies that were punished
overseas for bad practices are doing the exact same things in the u.s it's kind of galling but yeah uh yeah as far as you know are they smarter than us no they've just had more time to come to terms with how bad things can get if you don't really regulate this business uh aggressively um what's the um what's left of the black market versus the um
Right, but they've got prediction market betting now, so plenty of people will be betting on the Super Bowl through prediction markets in ways that are basically indistinguishable from what you can get on sports books.
