I think, obviously, he signed me for a lot of money from Sunderland.
He just tweaked my game a little bit.
And I remember one training session, I remember running wide.
I think Luke Young had the ball.
He was a right-back at the time.
And he had the ball, and he wanted me to make a run into the channel.
And I remember him training that.
I made the run out there to help him out.
And I remember he stopped the training session and he said to me, like, well, what are you doing?
And I said, well, obviously, I was always taught if you fall back or someone's in trouble, you've got to give them an angle.
And I kind of ran wide and he said to me, no, no, no, don't ever run out again.
I said, well, obviously, he's going to have a go at me.
If I don't go out there and help him, he's going to have a go at me.
And he basically said to me, well, no, I didn't buy you to run out wide and get the ball out on the touchline.
I bought you to score a goal.
So from now on, let them deal with, obviously, the ball out there and you stay between the 18-yard box.
And obviously, I did that and I loved it because it was less running for me.
No, I mean, when I say learnt the most off, I'd have to say Gerard Hall in that short space of time.
But if you talk about some of the best managers, then, yeah, George Burley and Alan Kerbisley are right at the top part, like neck and neck, right at the very, very top.
Well, obviously, again, George Burley, belief's a big thing, I think, for managers.
