water ingress this happens to me all the time the problem is you can't put a sealed mason jar into hot water or you have a very very very good chance of blowing the bottom off of it like it'll like the air on the top will expand boom it'll blow the bottom right off the mason jar i remember the last time that i did this by mistake because i wanted to get the timing exactly right so i boiled the water i wasn't thinking i put the mason jar and bam

Blew out onto the bottom of the thing.

Nightmare.

So the solution is get some waterproof gloves.

You know what?

They actually make little grippy doodles that you can get jars out of the hot water.

And you know what?

For as goofy as that sounds, if you're going to do it a lot, they make sense.

But get then some mitts and bring them up to temperature without the lid on, right?

Like in not that much water.

Just like get them up to temperature.

And by the way, I guess that's 80.

You do need to kind of almost submerge them.

Right.

Because they're.

They're not going to be bathed in steam.

So anyway, get them close to temperature in not as much water.

Pull them out.

Then you can seal them safely, put them back in, and close it and jack it.

And then you're not going to get any water into it.
