It's because young healthy neurons haven't had time to get stiff.
They already have flexible membranes and good flow.
And they haven't had a chance to age yet.
But if you took a young brain and put it on raceetams, would it age less because it was less subject to insults?
I think so.
Now there are some studies that support what I just said.
Uh Lunar et al.
in 2010 in Frontiers in Neuroscience showed specifically that paracetam improves mitochondrial function.
They were looking at aging and Alzheimer's affected brain tissue.
And that's a big deal.
If you read Head Strong, my New York Times bestselling book about cognitive function that was sandwiched on the science list between homoduce and sapiens.
Yes, I was the meat in the sandwich, which was kind of funny, given that I used to be a vegan.
Ugh anyway.
That book I talked about specifically Alzheimer's and mitochondria and what you could do about it.
And since then the research has been profound about it.
This is one of the first papers and it showed paracetam does do that.
And if I had Alzheimer's or some of my family did, would I give them paracetam?
Yeah.
Would I give it to them if they didn't have Alzheimer's?
Yeah.
