There can be an episode that could bring a will to an end, one of which is if you marry.
So let's just say that you've got a will and then 10 years later you marry, that the will will be revoked.
Oh, okay.
unless your will was made in contemplation of marriage.
And one thing is, if, for argument's sake, you'd made gifts to a person that you marry, the gift that you made will still be respected.
But, yeah, that's a circumstance where a will can be revoked.
Interestingly enough, if you divorce...
Your will remains valid, but you consider the divorced spouse to have pre-deceased.
You put a line through that person and move on.
That's by legislation.
But otherwise, your will will continue.
It doesn't expire.
Well, not at home in the top drawer of the filing cabinet because basically what you're concerned about is not just losing it and mislying it when you move, but fire or theft, you'll lose it.
If it's going to be stored at home, you'd want it to be in a safe.
I'm talking about a proper, secure safe and also someone knowing that it's there and how to access it.
But really, you should be thinking about things like trustee companies or solicitors who will generally hold wills or important documents without charge.
State trustees have a will bank.
And actually, we encourage people to lodge wills or powers of attorney, free service, as in solicitor's
also will provide that sort of service.
You don't have to have written a will with state trustees or have us as executor.
