Yeah, well, I mean, yes, I mean, again, who knows why?
But these things, these things happen in sports.
So actually... Yeah, if you'd played a blinder all the time.
Well, the irony is that the harder you try sometimes, the worse it gets.
So that sort of balance, in sport, that sort of balance between obviously trying, but also being relaxed enough to just get it right naturally is the perfect place to be.
And then when your mind is doing other things as well, and you are trying that bit harder to prove a point.
It works sometimes, it doesn't work at others.
This particular day, everything was out of kilter.
It ended in sheer ignominy.
Joe, there are many ways to motivate yourself.
Some people say, you know, Queen and Country, the England badge, personal pleasure, personal gratification, overcoming silly mistakes.
There are many ways of finding a way to try and play well on the day.
Well, first, first game, uh, famously the, and the first ball I faced went for four.
It was just the sort of a, a bit of a gift.
And I mean, I'm sure, I'm sure there were plenty of nerves jumbling around in the stomach, you know, those butterflies that we hear it so much about.
I have no idea where they came from, but anyway, they, you have those nerves, which they sort of kind of propel you to a heightened state in many ways.
Again, it's the balance between being too nervous to perform properly and nervous enough to give you an edge.
And if you're too relaxed, sometimes rarely it does work, but you know, sometimes it's beautiful.
If you're just on that cusp of being too nervous, too adrenaline pumped, again, that can lead you to a mistake.
But just some sort of balance in the middle is great.
