At that same age, so say 16, 17, I would have been somewhere up there, probably amongst, I don't know, 200 schoolboys of the same age with talent above that of the rest of the school, shall we say.
So at the same time, just as an example, at the same time I was making runs for my school, a fellow called Chris Tavray was making yet more runs at his school, which was 30 miles up the road, seven notes.
And his school records were much more impressive, or just that bit more impressive.
The irony is this, he was, I mean, I was at school in Kent, but Kent had no idea I was there.
Tav was there in Sevenoaks, and they picked him up, put him on their books.
And we both made first team debuts for our counties, him for Kent, me for Leicestershire in the same year, 75.
So the year after, or the year I'd left school, basically.
