So there is an anti-European, anti-euro strain within the DNA of the AFD.
And then, of course, it seems to be appealing to lots of Germans because they're saying, look, why do we need the EU?
They blame the EU for immigration.
They blame the EU for high taxes.
They blame the EU for Germany having to bail out Greece in the last...
great financial crisis.
They blame the EU for being the vanguard of NATO.
They blame the EU for supporting unambiguously Ukraine.
More importantly, they blame the EU for diluting German sovereignty.

Well, the question is, is this...
victory of 44% in a small German state, the beginning of something major or an aberration.
If you think it's the beginning of a shift in fundamental German politics, in the same way as Le Pen
is a fundamental shift, a Farage or Brexit or Maloney.
And Maloney's interesting because Maloney came up with all sorts of anti-EU rhetoric, but once she got into power, realized Italy can't go it alone.
So she's very much pro-European.
at least in her external messaging, maybe not in her internal messaging.
