And in the Southern Highlands, where they're proposing to put in, you know, one of these hyperscale data centers, there there was a a meeting at the RSL.
There were like 400 plus people.
They couldn't fit any more in the room, angry that the government
government was was fast tracking a hyperscale data center in there and they're saying, well, what's in it for us?
And I think that's what everyone's asking.
Well, you say that we need we need to get on the curve.
You the government says we need to get on the curve of these data centers.
Um, for what purpose?
So that they can suck down our water, suck down our power, we can import all the components, we import the platforms that run on it, they export our data, they export our profits.
What do we get out of this?
I mean, a short-term economic boom while we build the shed.
Uh that seems to be what the plan is.
We get some kind of short-term economic bump where we build the shed.
Maybe, you know, some corporate players get to supply them with power and water to them rather than to us, and they might make a more profit from doing that.
But what's in it for the Australian public?
I can't see what's in it.
That's why we're saying, hold on.
Hold on, stop doing this for a moment.
If we're gonna have AI rolled out here in data centers here, well there should be some Australian control and sovereignty and ownership of it.
The profits should remain onshore, the control of the data should remain onshore, and there should be something in it for Australian jobs and and Australian economy.
