So give me an economist view on this.

Yeah, just the back story is that the 32 cents on diesel and 27 on unleaded petrol.

will expire at the end of July, start of August.

And if no further change comes along, that would lead to a spike in prices.

Now, you know, driving out here to studio, you'd pass prices like just over 170 euros per litre.

And if those 27 cent and 32s were removed, you'd get up to about two euro.

And we have seen a high like that before.

But what I think behavioural finance tells us is that people feel big losses much more strongly than they feel financial gains.

And that's a lesson that I've had to

kind of digest from the protests earlier in the year.

So the coalition clearly here, as reported, are looking to maybe do something staggered.

So maybe, and this is just top of the head, it could be like 10 cent over, you know, three different notches higher in it.

But the real thing that will depend with all of this is where the price accrued is.

Because the barrel accrued is only about $74 now, which is way down from 100 that we saw at the spike of the war.

But, you know, we're seeing some renewed strikes now from the US on Iran.

Yeah, I mean, we did also have to dip into global storage as well to be able to fill the gap.

So there's kind of two sides to that.

But certainly getting it much lower is something that is very hard to see, at least in the near term.

So the coalition needs to work with the risk of, OK, it might stay low, in which case it wouldn't, you know, be too harmful to households to raise it.

But if you raised it and then the price of oil would be going up, it wouldn't be 32 cent on diesel.
