Obviously had that last loan spell in the MLS with LAFC.
That loan seemed to happen with a...
kind of the thoughts in the background that he would go on another loan in January that loan still hasn't materialized yet he had 10 appearances in LAFC and got one goal seemed to kind of get into the team kind of towards the back end of the NMLS season and they were knocked out in the playoffs but
I think a good experience maybe to go and play in a different league.
The MLS, as much as people would like to maybe kind of disparage it, it is quite a popular league for players in South America of a certain level to go there and develop themselves and then go to Europe.
Diego Gomez from Brighton being kind of a
most obvious example so I don't think that LAFC move was a particular bad move for him I think Portsmouth have been linked over the last couple of days and I think he just needs to play football at a decent level I think he needs to learn from an Irish point of view I think he would need I think he'd be better off developing his game from being a number 10 to being a number 8 or number 6 and being like a dictator at the back of midfield rather than being the little creator at the front of midfield
that's just my opinion but I just think for the Ireland team that's where we could maybe do with someone more rather than rather than kind of having another attacking kind of player so yeah I'm kind of interested to see what you guys think I know I know like Moran has been involved in a lot of squads without really playing he was involved in the last squad but actually didn't make the 23 so where do we think Moran should go?
I think that's more a case that we don't really follow it though.
I don't think that's any he could be still a really decent player but I think maybe he was overhyped when he was coming through that 21s team do you think he was?
I think so I think he was overhyped he looked incredible for that 21s team but translating 21s form into senior level senior team form is really hard and you rely on your club you can't do it you'd be exceptional to do it from an international level 21s to international level senior team you have to be an incredible player to do that I think a lot of it depends on your club and how you develop at your club
sometimes you need to question the player like what maybe Gasparini's doing or Ferguson and Roma you sometimes have to question the player like why can't you adapt to my style why can't you kind of you know and a lot of pragmatic teams need a player who has that bit of X factor too so you often see a very pragmatic team have one or two players who are able to turn the needle I suppose you know he just needs to get out and play but you can't be like oh I don't know if I go there and I might go there and mmm
Yeah, in knee injuries, it could be back early February it seems.
Can he get a move over the line?
Yeah, I just think where he is now, it's really hard for him to get into a squad for March.
Now, probably the thing is, if he's thinking, and it looks like from August 25 that Hamer said that the allegiance has been switched and he will be in consideration for selection.
Barry's played for Ireland on the ridge, but he also played for England loads on the ridge too, so...
Yeah, we've been stung like this in the past, but I don't think he's actually at the level anywhere near to play for England.
Definitely not in the evidence that we've seen so far in his career.
He kind of hit the headlines maybe seven years ago.
