I think they're struggling because they sort of skipped and quickly moved past the conditions to make honest engagement with tools possible.
Yeah.
So I was.
I was about 35, 40 days in and on my listening tour.
And what I was hearing confirmed essentially what I was observing.
and that the organization had a capability it wasn't fully accessing, and the gap wasn't talent, it were the conditions.
And so I was seeing where information stalled or stopped traveling across the organization as it grew more distributed.
So we're essentially structured in thirds.
We have a third of our population in around our HQ in Portland, Oregon.
We have a third of
across the country in our distribution facility.
So again, like communication wasn't flowing and also identifying who deferred, where they shouldn't have deferred, which rooms were quiet when a senior leader entered and where honest conversations happened after the meeting, right?
Rather than before it.
And so again, Timothy Clark came in taking forward the Amy Edmondson's principles and really bringing more practical application for how we move and maneuver.
So I brought him in to do something very specific.
His four stages of psychological safety really give us the behavioral operational architecture, if you will, which is research-grounded progression describing some of these experiences.
And we have infused the essence of the four stages into our core values.
and leadership expectations.
Our values have really become the vehicle, how we drive psychological safety and it's experienced and modeled daily.
I also just want to name something that I think is also important here.
