And largely existed at the higher up levels.
And I've said this before on the record that
You know, it's the upper echelon that position themselves for later on down the track, whether they want to be politicians or they want to get into a, you know, like a executive level role or a high EL in the Australian government post service.
So that's why they'll step over each other to get those positions.
to get those positions at the cost of the guys that are kicking the doors in and breaching those holes in the walls and carrying their boys out of the dry river beds.
They don't care about down the low.
And what's been actually nice, and I'll just say this, that all the time we were overseas, they tried to create this divide between the two units.
it's actually come back to bite him in the ass because post service so post g what so all the iraq and uh and afghan guys like i'll tell you now man i've probably picked up you know 10 to a dozen mates from perth that i've never worked with that are extremely senior to me that i speak to pretty regularly now um purely through the common bond of the brotherhood and the job we're doing and also knowing now that it doesn't matter if you're sas or two commander but it's also people have moved on the
bullshit that we were fed with target and jobs and assets and things it was all coming from higher up you know and I can I can touch briefly on a job that we're doing down in 2008 in in Helmand province we were basically
at the last line like we were putting fire in on this on this village um you know heavy guns sierra call signs indirect fire from mortars it was all happening um and we were ready to step off um in our in our brother platoon was on the other side of the gorge and we'd linked up with um with a marine call sign that had armor so we're ready to we're ready to get after it um but
SASR dudes were having a job on a different province, and we couldn't get clearance from Canberra to get assets.
And we're taking fire.
We're returning fire.
This is over a couple of kilometers, so it wasn't too crazy at this point, but we were getting ready to roll through this place.
And it was already being cleared out.
There was only fighters on target, and we'll go on.
Canberra wouldn't give us the clearance because there was a higher up somewhere that said, no, assets have to go to the other guys.
And we didn't take that as like, oh, they stitched us up, they took our assets.
But you know yourself with the golden hour and you have to have AME birds on station and spectre gunships and all kinds of different levels of assets to make sure you're successful with your operation.
We couldn't get that.
