So yeah, I didn't really understand stocks at the time.
I knew they existed, but as far as I was concerned, my financial education, when I started having my aha moments was like the New York times and all of those like tickers, the stock tickers and all these numbers with pluses and minuses, it didn't mean anything to me.
And it wasn't where I had my expertise at that time.
Sure.
Well, speaking of stocks and not understanding stocks, I made what I call my $50,000 money mistake.
I invested in something,
which was based on stocks, but I didn't know what I was doing.
If you remember, there was a financial crisis, a subprime mortgage crisis.
You see, that's another part of Wall Street is subprime mortgages.
And, you know, that started in mid 2007 and it continued into March 2009.
And the market really, really crashed during that time.
And I was listening to all the talking heads on the market.
And there were people who were all of a sudden noticing that there was a turn in March 2009 and the markets were starting to go up.
But nothing goes down in a straight line and nothing goes up in a straight line.
So I was following this like doomsday commentator who was saying this isn't going to last.
It's going to go down.
And he was giving a long list of reasons.
And I guess I had been so shaken, even though like I didn't sell, I didn't, that's what a lot of people do is all of a sudden there's a financial crash and they sell.
But he was really predicting that the market was going to go up a little bit, which it had done and then crash again.
So I invested with him.
