Tell me which payment type is immune to fraud, right?
None.
Pick any payment type and there's fraud.
Even in credit cards, there's fraud.
It's just that somebody else pays for it, right?
Exactly.
So I think the fraud is increasing because the volumes are increasing, because the opportunity for fraud is more.
But also remember with faster payments, hopefully, although not always,
The payments will be smaller, but over time they're increasing, right?
So I'm not surprised, but I don't think it's a deterrent for FIs and the businesses to adopt it.
I think it definitely would.

The question is who?
Who's going to stand in the middle and do what the card companies do, right?
So if the FIs were to probably step in and say, hey, this fraud, you know, we're going to step in and take care of that because they are the most likely ones who have the resources, who have the systems in place, who have the operations in place, who have the algorithms in place to detect fraud and so on and so forth.
So I think it can be done at two levels.
The best place would be if it can be done at the network level.
If you can do it at the network level, that would really, really accelerate the adoption of faster payments.
But if it cannot be done at the network level, where it is not being done today, networks have left it to the FIs to do it.
