You know, it's not uh the city itself isn't like a New York City, but it's a great market to play in and um the people care.

They care about hockey.

A lot of people know hockey and understand it, so they uh they appreciate kind of, you know, what I brought to

to the table as a blue collar bottom six guy that was contributing offensively for most of my time there and

Um, yeah, I mean our kids spent four years there as well and my s my son Zane played four years of minor hockey and H S L there and

My daughter, you know, went to school obviously, same as my son and they they built roots and and made friends and

And um just being a part of the community was

was pretty special and then I think uh one of the biggest things is just the success that the team had in those four years.

Um, you know, Western Conference final, uh, bouncing the second round of Vegas my second year, but uh Vegas goes on and win it wins it and then, you know, back to back cup finals in years three and four.

So a lot of success, a lot of uh

fun times and when you have that much success it just kinda makes the experience so much cooler, especially in a market like Edmonton where um, you know, I've always said it since I've I've been there that, you know, winning the cup in that market would be I think the coolest place to win just 'cause it would be it would just be so celebrated and you'd be so recognized and it would be you know, it wouldn't go under the radar like a can and

in other markets.

Obviously winning the cup anywhere would be amazing, but if you could pick one place I think Edmonton's right up there with the top.

So uh yeah, I mean all those variables added together to be a pretty special experience.

Uh it was hard to leave just with the roots that we had there, the friends and and um, you know, relationships that we'd built, you know, not just with the oilers but in the community and and the people around the city.

So it was a special place, it'll always be a special place for myself and my family.

Yeah, it is different.

I cherished that experience this year.
