I don't have like the flashy attributes that a lot of NHL players might come into the league with, but I was able to add different parts of my game and carve out a niche in different areas, whether it's a centerman, you know, taking face offs or penalty kill and you know, I was a third line center in Carolina and Calgary for a lot of my time there and put it up, you know, forty points a sh a season, so I had some offensive ability as well but

Sometimes that doesn't last as you're as you get older, so how are you adding elements to your game to stay in the NHL as you age?

As you slow down, as maybe you aren't putting up as many points?

Um so yeah, I think it was a part of it.

I think that I think the biggest thing

you know, with my relationships and my impact with the Oilers is uh hockey was great, whatever I am as a player, but who I am as a person and what I gave to that locker room is probably the most the most impactful in those relationships, you know, the the tears that were shed when I was sent down and the tears were shed that were shed when I was saying goodbye to everyone at the end of the year and at Leon's wedding and all that

that kind of stuff is because not because of my journey, it's because of the relationships I've built with them, because of who I am, how I carry myself, how I am as a pro, um, my morals and how I stick to them and how that that speaks to people.

Um, you know, there's I could talk for hours on that, but I think that's probably the biggest reason that you know I had the impact that I had and

Yeah, it wasn't ideal.

Obviously that happens.

Yeah, mm I'm not ignorant to the fact that I'm playing in the NHL and that's the best league in the world and there's not many players they get to choose when they're done playing in the NHL.

Usually the NHL chooses when it's done with you.

Um it was a little bitter for me just 'cause of how things were handled with the new management, um the somewhat new coaching staff and and just kind of the the brickwork that I had laid with that group.

And, you know, blood, sweat and tears that I had given for that group for three and whatever years, three and a half years.

Um, just to kind of have it shoved under the rug or brushed under the rug is pretty disappointing.

Um, I don't think it would have been that way if the management would've wouldn't have changed.

whether they figured out a different way to do that or at least had better comm lines of communication or whatever would have had different feelings but
