So I think Leia Healthcare have put about six new plans into new inspired schemes into the market.
And, you know, the new entrants, which we weren't expecting, they then reduced their rates.
And I think what they're all doing now, they're all basically taking up positions in advance of that peak renewal period, because this is when half of their entire market renews their cover over those three to four months.
And if they don't retain them now, or if they don't attract all the new members in that they're hoping to get, well, either their existing members will switch to lower cost options with the others, or they will be forced to exit the market.
But also, Clare, there's a tipping point with the insurance companies as well in terms of how low they can go.
And that's why I'm just concerned.
I've seen some of the products that are already in the market.
But for people who've already...
maybe employed all those tactics that you can use to reduce the cost of your cover.
If they have nothing left and now they're facing a 10 to 15% increase, even on those lower level plans, then they will probably have no choice but to start looking at maybe potentially cancelling their cover.
Or what we're already seeing is we're seeing young families taking children off their policies.
We're seeing older parents taking their young adults off their policies because if you're aged between 26 and 35 and you're healthy, you don't have to worry about those age loadings until you turn 35.
So there's no real incentive for people to stay insured between 26 and 35.
And that's something that we think the market and the Health Insurance Authority needs to look at.
How do you incentivize younger members
to stay insured.
And especially now when we have a huge affordability crisis.
So hopefully what I'm outlining doesn't come to pass.
But I remember back in 2011, between 2011 and 2015, nearly 330,000, mostly younger members were forced to exit the market.
And that wasn't good.
