But what's happened in the last two, three years is that the private hospitals, as we understand it, are out the door um and they're not waiving them anymore.
more.
Now look, there's nothing to stop somebody negotiating.
We every so often we will hear somebody who'll say, Well look, I told them I couldn't afford three thousand and they reduced it down to a thousand or fifteen hundred euro.
You've nothing to lose by basically seeing will they do you a deal or will they waive it, but you know, expect to be disappointed because our understanding now is is the hospitals are not waiving anymore.
But that was the case
up to two, three years ago, but they've they've discontinued that practice now.
So we understand they're all they're all charging it.
Now and some of them will offer you payment options, payment plans, loans and so forth, but it's a huge amount of money.
And and the one thing Claire I'd say is like
You know, and by the way, there's another concept if I can just throw this in here, what we call managed risk.
Because if in three or four years I need a hip replacement and and I'm facing a bill of three thousand, rather than giving it to the insurance companies who every year could reduce my benefits anyway, I have it in my bank account and a lot of consumers are doing that now.
They're going for the lowest.
Exactly.
It's kind of like a self pay route.
So what they're basically doing is okay, I don't have any orthopedic issues right now.
Yes, I might be in my seventies and maybe it's something I should have full cover for, but there's nothing going on right now.
So what they do is they instead of giving the insurance companies an extra two thousand euro per year, and there's no guarantee my benefits will always be the exact same as we now see, what people are doing is they're putting that money aside, they're going on the lower plans, and then if in three, four years
years time they need a hip replacement, they actually have the funds themselves in their own bank account.
Okay.
