I played sports. I danced. I did the bruck up. I don't know if y'all know about that.
The bruck up is a Caribbean dance.
You seen the shoulder move? You seen the shoulder move? So... The broke-up is a dance, all right? What do you mean? Yeah, see, you're laughing because you don't know what the broke-up was.
I'm not. I've been doing this since I was a kid.
I used to dance. I used to be out in the streets trying to entertain people.
But I knew I had to make money. So I was like, how am I going to make money? And I was like, sports.
No, I'm Caribbean by relation.
Not by birth. Come on, you know what I'm saying? You know what I'm saying? You know what it is. My wife's Jamaican and Vincentian. So I adopted that culture. But I've always been big in Caribbean culture coming from Brooklyn. Yeah. Okay. I just knew that I had to find my way out of New York. I never wanted to spend my whole life in Brooklyn. Sports came easy to me because I was fast.
I was athletic. So I said, I'm going to play sports. I was going to play basketball. I was like, I'm going to be about 6'5". And then when you go to the doctor, right, you know the doctor tell you, oh, I'm looking at your palm. Your growth plays. You're about 6'5", buddy. Fucking lies.
I stopped growing, and I said, you know what? I think football is it. Yeah. I'm not tall enough to play basketball. Went and got my degree and said, I'm going to focus on TV afterwards. Okay. It was that simple. Football was a means to an end. I enjoyed it. The NFL was great to me. I made a lot of money that I wouldn't have been able to make.
But it was just a plan to get me to TV film.
It's not easy. And the funny thing is I thought I was going to go into broadcasting first too. I got my degree in broadcast journalism. Yeah. Us too. You see, but that's why I knew that y'all was good.
But that's why y'all good at what y'all doing.
The funny thing is, no one expected to see y'all coming like this. Dressed the way y'all dress, looking the way y'all look. Y'all not supposed to be able to do what y'all do. Yeah. I agree. So the fact that y'all are doing this, please give yourselves a round of applause. Thank you. And shout out that y'all had degrees because people think that having degrees is pointless. They do. I don't.
You saw something through completion. Yeah. And as a businessman, that's important. All the people I go into business with, I go into business with people who I've seen do things through completion.
Because that means you had to do something you didn't want to do in order to see it all the way through. And that's life. So, you know, I started out broadcasting. I worked for MSG Varsity doing games.
And I hated it.
Yes.
Because they wanted me to say what they wanted me to say.
Because they said you can't say this.
