Broadcasting is the evolution of medium. It really is. You know, and it's going to become like, I think it's going to become the mainstay of where people consume all of their information.
Yes.
So my beautiful wife, Kadeem, is very similar to you guys. She went to school for broadcast journalism. She wanted to do hard news. She did Hofstra News and Views. She worked at the radio station and she hated it.
So when I retired from the NFL, at this point she was having our first child.
I felt bad as a man. that I was just like, man, like she has her own dreams. She always has to stop doing her dreams if we continue to have children. So I was like, well, I can't even take credit for this. Our manager at the time, Denora, Denora Pena, shout out to Denora because her vision for what she saw for us was huge. And we wouldn't be who we were if it wasn't for Denora.
Yeah, she got an opportunity from Stitcher. And Stitcher was like, hey, Deval and Kadeem do all these videos about Battle of the Sexes. And it's funny. Have they ever thought about a podcast? And Denora came to us and explained what a podcast was. I had never heard of a podcast. And I was like, wait a minute. So, babe. We could do the podcast from home. We could do the podcast from anywhere.
But you'll get an opportunity to continue to work and do what you do in your field without having to pause every time you get pregnant. So I was like, let's focus on the podcast and build that out so that we can ultimately get to your goal of being a daytime TV show host. And she was like, bet, let's do it. And we started it. And now we're 15 seasons later.
Of course.
Well, nothing is easy that's worth having.
And the problem with most people, especially in this generation, is they want instant gratification. I was doing videos for years before any one of my videos got traction to go viral. And then once it went viral, that's when people was like, oh my gosh, Deval, you're doing this? And I said, well, where were y'all years ago when I had 26 people viewing my videos and I was still making videos?
I'm editing videos and putting pictures up and you see three likes. That was us.
You know what I'm saying?
Right.
You know who gave me the biggest tip pause about just creating content? I got to pause that.
I'm not going to pause that. But I felt that pause.
Move.
Okay, what was the big tip? I can't even tell this story now.
Especially in this climate. But I worked as Omari Hardwick's A stunt double.
I felt it. I said that to Tommy in jail, but it wasn't ghosts. It was me. It was you. It was me.
That's what I was going to ask you.
