Yeah, I mean, we've seen it so much over and over again as the year, and even I think last year and stuff, just the constant layoffs. And man, I was not ready for Concord to go as fast as it did and was really hoping for that comeback story, even if it came out as free-to-play. Layoffs, closures...
As a victim of it now, they're never a great thing for whatever reason the business feels like it has to happen. And yeah, my heart just goes out to everybody that was affected by it, especially after pouring years into a game like Concord, just to have it all shut down like that afterwards.
Very terrifying, especially for Marathon, which is next in line to be on that games-as-a-service slate for Sony. Like you said, it's so hazy to see what the future is going to look like. We're always going to be talking about Concord because once Marathon comes out, it's going to be direct comparisons left and right.
It's kind of good to see. Am I weird for not wanting generations to go away?
Yeah, we are hitting a point where it's starting to flatline a little bit. I think we would have gotten there a little bit faster if console hardware was at the same cadence as cell phones. Because I've hit the point where if a new iPhone gets announced, I'm just like, eh, whatever. I'm more of like, when it's a new iOS, when it's a new software update, then I'm really excited.
But yeah, I feel like we are starting to fly line a little bit, but at the same time, when you look at the hype around Switch 2, it's like, I love that that's there. I love that there's this fever brewing and people are speculating, what's it going to look like? How's it going to run? And that just wouldn't be there if it was just every year we got new Nintendo Switch
2018 edition and 19 edition and all the way up until now you know we'd be like all right another one's coming out who cares you know yeah or maybe maybe not everyone i feel like you know you're missing nintendo you're mr hardware oh yeah i'm like damn that if they did that i would beat my wallet would be screwed uh but no i don't
wow that is a sane number yeah that's very very good very exciting um of course the beta is free um but and not that the monster hunter ip or capcom need this um indication of you know how popular it's going to be just they could look at World and know how popular it's going to be. But it's a really good indication of how strong that fan base is going to be.
World brought in so many new people, and so many people that missed that boat, me included, are looking at this like, is this my chance? I can not be in that FOMO zone anymore. It's really cool to see. And I tried it a little bit on PlayStation when that part of it dropped, but I just downloaded it onto PC.
So I'm going to jump in again because I was a little confused when I played the PlayStation one. So I'm going to try it again.
Even just on the PlayStation side, those people who played that, I saw just whispers all over the internet about how awesome it is. So yeah, if the beta can be this big and this exciting to people and people can see it as polished, it's just like, yeah, just wait until February rolls around. It's just like, do the games releasing in February try to escape Monster Hunter Wilds?

Yeah, I don't think anyone moves. You know, it is fun to kind of think about like just a game like running from another game just to try to get some space. But yeah, I don't think anyone moves, especially since most of them are coming out before this drops. I think maybe one of them is on the same date. I think Yakuza is the same exact date.

At least until February, you know, if people get in, even just for nostalgia's sake, because they love the old ones. I feel like, you know, it'll have that. It'll have its moment, you know, it'll have like a Pal World moment, and then it'll kind of trail off a little bit as more games come out.

I've tried so many times. I really want to be. I've had friends that have really tried to get me into Metal Gear, and it's never completely worked. It's never caught on with me, but I've always wanted to be.
