He signed in Tampa Bay to reconvene with Danny Smith.
So the Steelers have lost a few guys on their special teams.
But I just thought a...
Connor Hayward cheap re-signing would be something that happened at some point, and it didn't.
And I know that I have at least one very close friend out there that is very happy about it.
This also puts a cap on the fabled 2022 Steelers draft class.
I heard the morning show bring it up this morning.
I had the same conversation with them during one of the breaks.
The antithesis to the 1974 class, we are not even four full years removed from the 2022 draft, and nobody remains from that class.
In fact, there's a weird cherry on top.
There is one guy still here, and he was not drafted.
That was Jalen Warren.
He's the only guy that came out of that draft weekend in 2022 that is still in Pittsburgh.
So it made me wonder who was the best player.
From that class, specifically for their time in Pittsburgh, you had Pickett at 120, Pickens at 252, Leal 384, Austin at 4138, Hayward picked 208 in round six.
Then Mark Robinson and Chris Oladokun in the seventh round, 16 spots apart, 225 and 241.
The guy was a headache, but the answer here is George Pickens in a landslide.
I think Calvin Austin and Connor Hayward are probably on the medal stand because they were useful players at one time or another, and given where they were selected, they actually brought pretty good value.
But George Pickens had almost 3,000 yards and 12 touchdowns here in three seasons.
He had an 1,100-yard season in 2023.
