Don't seem to go away and they cause some problems, some strain in relationships.
There's studies for years showing that divorce is more likely, more common in these kinds of relationships.
Uh, recent studies in America and Sweden and Australia showing that
husbands who are out earned by their wives report poor mental health.
And the costs aren't just borne by the husbands.
I mean when you pull the wives in these relationships, they also report less satisfaction with their relationship.
And part of this may be due to the fact that high earning wives are often responsible not only for earning more money, but also then coming home and
having to take care of household duties, child care, things like that.
So it's kind of understandable that there might be dissatisfaction with a relationship in which you're not only out earning the bulk of the income, you're also doing the bulk of the housework.
Statistically, the outlook doesn't look as good as if it was more traditional in nature.
But I'm not gonna speak to Travis and Taylor's relationship.

The age of the trophy wife seems to be over.
So we looked at a sample of married couples in the census data, and uh we actually only looked at heterosexual married couples because the data just aren't available for these kinds of historical analyses.
We saw that in nineteen eighty, about eight percent of the top earners, so those are people in the top one percent of the income, married someone at least a decade younger compared to just five percent.
