By twenty twenty-four, that gap had closed.
So the richest group behaved just like the rest of us.
One of the interesting papers that I came across was done a few years ago.
Uh it looked specifically at the the men at the very high end, the very wealthiest men in America, the Forbes four hundred list.
And what they found was the wealthiest men were on average seven years older than their wives.
This was significantly higher than the typical two to three year gap found in the general population.
Even more striking was when they looked at men who had
remarried.
So, you know, they married somebody and then they split and then when they're much older, they remarried again and that gap was significantly higher.
That that gap was twenty two years.
So a really striking finding there about the sort of men at the very top of the income scale.
I mean, I'm sure there's all sorts of cultural factors at play.
I think one of the interesting explanations is education.
People who spend more time in education, so going to university, grad school, et cetera, professional degrees, they often earn higher salaries as a result.
And they also d tend to spend a lot of their sort of prime dating years socializing with their classmates.
So those are gonna be people who are close.
Or to their own age.
So education seems to be like a very clean, very tidy explanation for at least some of the change.
Diplomatic answer there.
