And Tovar is an interesting one, 47% chase rate in a fourth straight season with an OBP under 300.
But he plays in Coors Field, and he's a fun guy to watch.
He had a great WBC, and he's a tough one to give up.
So I asked you about some of the young pitchers and the potential innings, workloads, and things like that.
On the position player side, right now this year's rookie class currently has the best WRC plus of any rookie class ever.
That'll come down a little bit as Quad A guys come up and make their debuts and things like that, but it's pretty impressive overall.
Did you or did we kind of royally plan for that enough, and is this a special class, or do we need to maybe shift our risk profile when it comes to young guys in future years, given how a lot of these guys have been able to hit the ground running?
he's started to click some of the guys that got experience last year hit the ground running like sal stewart i know he cooled off a bit in may but he was on fire in april so it's a little bit of underestimating a few guys maybe the depth of this class is also a little better than most yeah it's it's a great point in terms of the depth of the uh the 13 most plate appearances among rookies 11 of them have been league average or better at the plate which is uh which is pretty crazy no matter how you size up a rookie class you mentioned murakami there and the the strikeout that
was the strikeouts that were baked into his profile and he said 20 home runs he's on the il now um the jay assigned cosmo okamoto who was supposed to have a little bit less of the power upside maybe in exchange for uh striking out less are you surprised at all that while the power has been there for okamoto it's taken him this long to adjust and the striker rate's still north of 30 percent
You mentioned the bad X there.
I know heading into the season, the last couple of years, the bad X has outperformed the other projection models on the hitting side.
Is it, is that your preferred in season for rest of season projections as well?
That's a good point.
Yeah, I don't know.
Like, do you play in any leagues against Eno or because you guys do the show together, you just don't have it?
That's not fun.
Well, and I would imagine that in your case, I just had Ben Nicholson-Smith on, who's a colleague here, and we play in a league together, and you start chasing the same guys because you're having the same conversations, you're looking at the same information.
It's...
Yeah, it's a fascinating thing to look at.
Before we let you go, man, you guys had Keith Law on the other day.
