In the wind up position.

But he took a step back and in the wind up position, um, or rather the stretch position.

I'm sorry.

This is I had to look it up again this morning just to get everything straight.

So he was so his um he was in the the uh stretch position or the set position.

And you do have to come home.

You get one step, but you have to come home.

But

There's kind of a hybrid version of that rule where if you notify the umpire with each hitter um that you're going to be pi um pitching

In more of that stretch position, but you're going to be taking two steps like you do with uh with the wind up, one step back and then forward.

As long as you notify the umpire, um, then that's okay.

But um, in this case, once the the C's runner uh reached third, the pitcher did not notify the umpire's intention, and it was immediately called a balk.

And um, I checked with um the C's official scorer, who's a former Toronto Radio.

Uh but the the um the clock operators double check with the uh the umpires in that in case that was the reason for uh for the bock call.

So it's not something you see very often.

We've seen it in the big leagues uh this year a couple of times, most recently I believe with uh with uh Braxton Ashcrops.

So learn something new just about every day.

There's no doubt about his ability to put balls in play, and he's hammering lots of pitches that he's seen.

Uh the extra base hits uh have yet to come.
