When I was a kid, basically the Soviet Union was this monolithic threat.
We were dealing with Cuba that was a threat.
China was sort of an up-and-coming threat, far more
communist under Mao than what they're trying to do now.
But basically, communism was part of the backdrop of my childhood, and it's always been bad.
Yeah, I'm fond of saying that if there is no God above the state, if you reject a transcendent authority above us, if there is no God above the state, then the state becomes God.
And when the state becomes God, what you have are basically aspirations to unlimited government.
They want to control everything that they can possibly control.
They want to control every keystroke of your keyboard.
