Well, such a great question and such a rich one.
I'll start with saying that start with your strengths.
So it's really important that we acknowledge the strength and endurance and perseverance it takes to live with anxiety.
And so if we're able to do that, I believe that we will be putting the right foot forward, so to speak, with our children.
So I'll give an example.
Because often we experience stress and hardship with anxiety and also with neurodiversity, there's a tendency to go to what's not working and what's negative.
And that's understandable.
We're not trying to gaslight ourselves.
And at the same time, if we start with our strengths, it can really model to our children and to ourselves, okay, what's working first?
We'll go to what's not working next, but first I'd say start with your s with our strengths.
Uh.
Oh, totally.
And it it's funny because like you said, it's obvious for others.
It's obvious for our children often, but then when we try to do it for ourselves, it feels very foreign.
And so, you know, I think it will feel robotic at first.
You know, with the clients that I work with, often I'll point out real time, like a strength I'm seeing.
And there's a range of responses.
Um, most people feel a little bit like, oh, like I hear what you're saying and I also can't like they want to reject it or they don't believe me.
I'm only saying that because I'm their therapist and I'm like, no, no, no, that's actually not my role, you know.
So I would say that it's okay if it doesn't feel congruent yet.
