We see that in shopping.
We see that in how we go out and eat and the plans and decisions we make in the day-to-day.
So if we make decisions with an ADHD brain based on enthusiasm and chasing dopamine, it can get really expensive because our enthusiasm supersedes our ability to think, plan, and organize how our finances work.
So it's extremely common for an enthusiastic ADHD traveler to come home with a pretty darn big credit card bill.
And if you're not planning well and you're not thinking through how you spend your money and how the travel contributes to this, it's really easy in that moment to say, oh yeah, sure.
I'm going to take that excursion today.
So what?
I'll figure it out later.
And I think the ADHD brain, because they want that positive immediate sort of reward, is much more susceptible to this.
And that's something we see from childhood for kids with ADHD all the way into adulthood.
So financial planning, setting a budget, having priorities, and knowing how you're going to manage and track your spending is an extremely important part of navigating ADHD.
And I went through it myself in my 20s.
I can tell you at my current age, which I won't say at the moment,
21, 21.
Yes, 21 times longer.
Yeah, but yeah.
So I'm not, you know, I'm in a very different place with that because I forced myself to think that through.
But that was not natural for my neurology.
And it's not natural for many ADHD brains.
So first and foremost, I always put together a budget for the big stones of my travel.
