You know.

uh get physically fit if they're not physically fit.

Be much more attentive to kind of doing the homework than they might ordinarily be, be thinking in a more concrete way about internships or other kinds of opportunities that would kind of put them in connection with a decent job after college.

And just kind of be taking their early 20s in a much more serious, vocationally directed way so that they're kind of in a better spot to be seen as men with a future and a potential down the road as decent providers.

I also think we have to help men to sort of like take the risk to ask women in their circles on dates, recognizing that they might fail, they might be rejected, but again, they might not be.

And that's of course the whole point, right?

And so just to kind of give them the encouragement to risk in this domain, to risk, you know, uh for

To risk.

the sake of love, marriage and a future.

Um, I think and then for the young women, I think um so I hear from a lot of young women that they're like there are no eligible guys out there who kind of really meet my standards.

But when I talk to some of the guys that I know from my classes who have a lot going for them, I mean these are guys that are

i for instance they're they're participating a lot, they're they're doing the reading, they're engaged, etcetera.

From their perspective, a lot of the women at UVA are kind of communicating to them that they're not interested in marriage and family at least until they're again around thirty.

So from their perspective, like why should they, you know, really invest in a relationship?

So I think one thing that women can do is sort of to be open to, you know, a more serious relationship, to be open to a family and marriage and communicate that, you know, not on the first date, but just sort of in in some meaningful ways down the road.

Um and then also as I mentioned today to kind of take the pride and prejudice story to heart, where of course

In Jane Austen's novel, Miss Elizabeth Bennett is initially quite turned off by Mr.

Darcy.

She finds him prideful, and she was right, he was prideful.
