Not commonly, but it does happen.
So it is possible to have bleeding during pregnancy.
There's a few different reasons that you can have it.
Sometimes it can be a problem with the placenta or a problem with the cervix.
And sometimes it can actually be some normal changes on the cervix that happen during pregnancy, especially if it's bleeding after intercourse.
And so there are people who bleed during pregnancy.
In general it's a good idea to get checked out if you know that you're pregnant and you're having bleeding because sometimes it can be a sign of a problem and I suppose that's the other thing where this comes up is that you can be pregnant and not know that you're pregnant and have a healthy baby which sort of flies in the face of the if you're pregnant you should go see your doctor, you should get yourself a midwife, you should be healthy and eat right and not drink.
And I suppose thinking about that, we know that in general, people who look after themselves better in pregnancy, so eating right, avoiding the foods they shouldn't eat, not drinking alcohol, not using other drugs, on average, they have healthier pregnancies and healthier babies than people who do all of those things.
But it is possible to have a healthy baby and do things that aren't recommended.
That said, I'm not recommending it.
I mean, I think the food guidance in pregnancy in Australia certainly is pretty restrictive.
And I think because we have a low threshold for worry.
So if you compare it to what they do in France, it is different.
So I think the chance of something going wrong with eating the wrong foods is low, but possible.
In terms of alcohol, we know that alcohol certainly can affect baby's development, especially binge drinking.
So that's something I suppose that we have more concerns about.
Sometimes the problems with the baby can be pretty subtle.
And so they're not necessarily noticed at birth or not noticed until the baby's a bit older.
And it's the same with other drug use.
And I suppose that's something that I always talk to young women who I look after or anyone that I look after.
