And then away.
Okay, so this is just a really brief thing, but sometimes somebody will start talking to you and they talk to you and then you're thinking, holy crap, what do I do with this?
because now they've given you something.
I think it's important when you're not their therapist, and this is most of us in this interaction, when we're not somebody's therapist, our space there is to bear witness, but it's not to give somebody therapy.
We direct people to other folk who might give them therapy.
If it's a workplace-based thing, it might be occupational health.
It might be sent to your GP.
It might be any of the resources that Richard's just talked about.
But we're all fixers.
We want to fix stuff and people start telling us stuff and we feel we should now be able to make things better.
The act of bearing witness is an intervention in and of itself and it's a really valuable one because it's allowing people the space to start to describe what's going on for them.
And it's a rehearsal for them, but it's not something that we need to, as the non-professional side of this, we need to then try and fix.
And I'm very conscious of that when I'm in these conversations.
I'm not sure I have one, because I am a doctor.
It's part of my identity.
It's to do with the education that I had.
It's to do with the 160 hour weeks, or 130 hours, but occasionally they were a wee bit longer than that, that I did.
It's the amount sunk cost I have in my identity as a doctor.
I know this.
I'm not massively uncomfortable with it.
