But, you know, in an economy of like 4 million people working, trying to make the argument that

that 3.2 million workers are living on the back of like 80,000 FDI kind of workers is not credible.

It's not credible whatsoever.

So there are huge problems in terms of dealing with these stats, dealing with these figures, and trying to get a sense of what keeps Ireland going.

And I think what keeps Ireland going on a kind of day-to-day basis is what keeps most kind of economies going, which are non-export businesses.

We don't talk about that, do we?

No, and this gets into one of the, like, why retail and the public sector jobs are your bedrock.

They're your real bedrock in terms of current employment because they are 26 counties.

It's not just Dublin and Cork and parts then of Limerick or like Shannon and so forth.

These are everywhere.

So again, going back to seeing Ireland as a society of six and a half million people or six million people, that in terms of when you get outside of the bubble of like FDI in certain kind of sectors,

and places, what's keeping these towns and villages going is it's kind of agricultural jobs, 100 and the 50,000.

And they're real jobs.

And that's just full-time.

Like, again, in terms of the stats, how many people work in agriculture

In Ireland, it's a bit skewed because there's a lot of part-time farming, part-time work, but they're still working in that sector.

In the census, you have to just register your primary occupation.

So those who are doing 20 hours farming, 30 hours going somewhere else, they don't write down, I'm a farmer.

in the census figures.

So it gets, again, going back to having a very skewered picture of the actually existing conditions on this island itself.
