But it's definitely, it's the 320,000 public sector workers, it's the 300,000 retail.
Retail is the largest single sector in Ireland in terms of employment.
And these are the jobs that actually keep
are ongoing on a day-to-day basis.
These are the jobs that feed and clothe the families and the children.
Well, you know, in like one of the problems in terms of the FDI kind of mentality in Ireland, and you can kind of see this in terms of the startups.
So, I mean, in my books and my kind of research in the last 20 years, I was going on about this kind of competent middleman kind of class and this kind of competent middleman mentality.
And what that is, is that it's in very, very simple terms, is that there's a certain class or there's a certain kind of ideology in Ireland.
It's a variant.
It's a mutation of kind of capitalist ideology.
that sees Ireland's role as an intermediary in transnational kind of capital.
And what it does is that it just kind of facilitates that.
This goes back to the cattle trade.
I won't bore people there with cattle, although we can kind of avoid it.
Cattle is to Ireland, what cars were to Detroit.
like you know more talk about cattle in Ireland than not talk about cars in Detroit if you're talking about that city but however this is I don't want to lose people but the thing is is that Ireland like used to export live cattle
Yeah.
So in the 1940s, Ireland had a very small leather trade or kind of shoe trade that was under pressure because it got its leather from England and the war was on.
Do you see anything there with Ireland sending live cattle over to England and then England sending us kind of leather?
I mean, this is a classic kind of colonial.
