The doors that sing variety is the spice of life.
It's completely true.
We need to have that variety, whether it's physically, nutrition-based or creatively.
No, I'm really sorry.
This is one of the myths that I debunk in the book.
Because I think it's important here that we're realistic.
We're saying when are the things when arts can help, but also when are the things where there might be a myth out there that's actually really unhelpful.
So yeah, I take down a couple of these.
This was a study that had played music to cancer cells in Petri dishes and claimed it had killed them.
I'm really sorry, but cells don't have ears.
So I don't know how we think these cells have been enjoying this music.
um we're probably talking about some kind of vibration response but this is a petri dish that is nothing like what's happening in the body in that moment so alas this is one of these times when it's not helpful but there are some really interesting studies that have looked at cancer and actually said well we have cancer drugs that can be tackling you know aspects of the disease but actually there are other things that we need to think about too whether that's
mental health experiences, whether that's chronic pain or nausea or fatigue or loss of libido or that sense of loss of identity and loss of social support.
And there are studies looking at all of those other components showing that arts can have benefits.
And I think this is a really kind of powerful example, whether it's cancer or whether it's other chronic diseases, of recognising that we have a really critical role for traditional medicine to be playing in the
management and treatments and sometimes cure of those conditions but we have to remember that we are whole people where actually there are other aspects of our mental physical social spiritual well-being that things like arts could actually really help with
Oh my gosh, so many now.
This is absolutely huge.
I mean, across so many countries.
I mean, there are hospital arts programs across all of the US, across the UK.
